·  THE MAGIC APOSTROPHE ~ um ~ 'TRILOGY'*

*that's ~ um ~ trilogy sort of!

Why "Magic Apostrophe"? Well, that's the title of the first book that Tanith and Gwydion appear in. Poor old Tanith. She's spent most of her life being a normal Welsh school-girl. It came as a terrible shock to discover that she's really a witch…

Already read that one? Good. Now you can go on to "The Island of Summer". That's the title of the second book in the series. Tanith and Gwydion get caught up in the struggle between Good and Evil. And there's no one quite so evil as Astarte Perkins! With her one brown eye and one blue eye, she is easy to recognise and almost impossible to avoid. In this book, our hero and heroine travel back in time and meet some most unusual characters…

What? You've read that one, too? You're definitely my kind of reader if you have. How about "Dragonson"? That's the third book. Tanith's new baby niece (yes, Heledd the Dingbat is now a Mum!) is kidnapped, and Tanith and Gwydion need to rescue her. And you know I said that there's no one quite so evil as Astarte Perkins? I was wrong. Now there's Corryn Du. Spiderwitch. Whose favourite snack is bumblebees covered in cream and honey… Now she's scary!

Next in the "Magic Apostrophe" series came "Who Me?", and "Me and My Big Mouth", and "Dragons ~ and Decisions".

Tanith and Gwydion fans needn’t get all upset ~ the series isn’t finished yet.  The next part of the series, “Nobody Asked Me!” was  published in September 2006 ~ the part that fans have apparently been waiting for, when Gwydion and Tanith...  Nope!  Sorry ~ you'll just have to read it!  There are two more books to follow, both already written ~ “What Part of ‘No’ Don’t You Understand?” and “Tree of Light”.

Don't forget that there is already another book about Gwydion before he meets Tan'ith. That's called "Gwydion and the Flying Wand". Then there's "Magic Maldwyn" and "Betsan the Brave", and also ready for publication is “Gwydion’s Quest”.

A review of "Magic Maldwyn" was published in Cambrensis:

·  Another delightful little book, aimed at six to nine year olds, continuing the story that began in "Gwydion and the Flying Wand".

Nine year old Carrie read this before me and was only too willing to comment. '"Magic Maldwyn" is a funny book, and I loved reading it. It is about a wizard's apprentice called Gwydion, who can travel through time using a "Time Door". In his last visit (the previous book) Gwydion gave a tiny bit of magic to Maldwyn, who lives in the present time, to stop him being bullied. When Merlin, the wizard, finds out about this, Gwydion is sent back through the Time Door to retrieve it. This leads to chaos, especially as a dragon follows him. Jenny Sullivan has really thought about it and I hope she writes some more brilliant books.'

Well ~ there's not much left for me to add, is there/ The series is a winner. The books are entertaining yet totally believable. This latest lives up to expectations. I enjoyed it and I'm not even in the appropriate age range! As the closing sentence says: 'Three cheers for Magic Maldwyn'.

Of course, even if you've read ALL the Books already published about Gwydion and Tanith, there's still "The Back End of Nowhere", its sequel "Nowhere Again" and also "Following Blue Water" to read.

The Back End of Nowhere" begins with three legends which set the background to a modern fantasy series, the second part being "Nowhere Again" whilst "Following Blue Water" is set in North Wales in both past and present times!
